Video: Morning News August 7th 2014

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Should some rural post offices close here in New Mexico? The Postal Service wants to close them up or cut hours and services, but senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich are against it, saying it’ll mean thousands of people will have to drive a long way to get to a post office.

Some good news here, I-40 near Grants should be back to normal this morning, after a deadly crash yesterday. Three semi’s crashed and caused a huge fire just east of Grants yesterday morning. The driver of one truck was killed. Investigators think it started when one truck blew a tire and crossed into oncoming traffic.

Today’s a big step in the process to clean up the Kirtland Air Force Base fuel spill. Crews are set to start removing soil from the old fuel off-loading rack, where a lot of the fuel spill happened. We’ll be there and let you know how it goes.

Dramatic surveillance video shows what happened just before Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputy Sam Rodriguez shot and killed Manuel Flores earlier this week. The video shows Flores slamming into his girlfriend’s car, then a deputy’s car twice.
