Elderly woman robbed at gunpoint

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police say an 81-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint Thursday afternoon.

According to APD, the woman flagged down police at approximately 12:00 p.m. near Coors and Avalon NW right after two people stole her purse and fled the scene.

The woman told police that she was initially approached by a woman who asked her for money. When the victim refused to give the woman money, a man approached the victim and attempted to grab the victim’s purse eventually pulling out a gun and pointing it at the victim when she refused. Both suspects then fled the scene after stealing from the victim.

Police later located the suspects at a motel near 63rd Street and Central.

APD said Sugey Graciano-Chavarria and Raul Daniel Sandoval Bencomo were identified as the suspects and were arrested without incident. Chavarria and Bencomo also confessed to the robbery, police say.
