Bernalillo County considers $2M proposal for otter exhibit.

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The county may pitch in money to help bring otters to the zoo. The BioPark hopes to add a river otter exhibit to the zoo.

Under a proposal, Bernalillo County would give $2 million to bring the exhibit to the zoo.

The Albuquerque Journal reports next week Bernalillo County Commission Chairwoman Debbie O’Malley will ask to increase a bond by $2 million. It would go up for vote this fall and would not result in tax increases.

This is all part of a master plan to upgrade the BioPark.

Officials hope the have the master plan ready to present to city councilors by the end this summer. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
