A man was killed in a house fire in Hobbs.

HOBBS, N.M (KRQE) – An elderly man has been killed in a house fire in Hobbs. It broke out Tuesday afternoon on the 400 block of west Main Street.

The fire chief says the elderly man who lived there was found inside once the fire was out.

Firefighters were alerted that he may be trapped in there but the flames were just too intense when they arrived for them to go in.

An oil field crew passing by spotted the fire and called 911.
