SANTA FE (KRQE) – A 4-year-old girl is recovering Tuesday night after nearly drowning Tuesday morning at a Santa Fe community center.

Police say a lifeguard at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center pool turned away from the leisure pool for a few seconds to stop some other kids from running.

When they turned back, they saw the girl at the bottom of the pool. The lifeguard pulled the girl out and paramedics revived her.

She’s expected to be OK.
