Director at UNM resigns following 3rd DWI charge

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The government and community affairs director at UNM has resigned following his arrest on July 23 on DWI charges.

According to a UNM news release, Vice President of Administration David Harris advised Marc Saavedra it would be best if he resigned. As of Aug. 8, Saavedra will no longer be employed by the university.

Harris said he’s pleased Saavedra is taking responsibility for his issues. He was two other convictions for DWI in the past.

Government Relations officer Connie Beimer will work in Saavedra’s place temporarily, the release stated.
