Story of butchered dog draws PETA attention

TORRANCE COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) -The dog for dinner case in Torrance County has gotten the attention of PETA. They’re now trying to put a billboard up there.

It would read “If you wouldn’t eat your dog, why eat a pig? Go vegan.” It also pictures a dog with a pig’s body and says animals are not ours to eat.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says it’s hoping the billboard will spark conversation about what ends up on people’s plates.

Earlier this month an Edgewood man was arrested for stabbing the family’s chi-weenie with a screwdriver, then gutting it and cutting it with every intention of cooking it for dinner. He’s been charged with animal cruelty not for trying to eat the dog, but for the way he killed it.
