An Albuquerque couple faces judge after child abuse arrest

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An Albuquerque couple faced a judge Wednesday charged with child abuse.

Police say Ricardo Duarte and Adilene Perez were drunk, walking on Copper near Eubank Tuesday with their three children in tow.

Witnesses called APD saying the children; ages seven months old to two years old, repeatedly fell out of their strollers and hit their heads. At one point they even fell into the busy street.

Witnesses also say the parents would then yank them up by their arms.

APD arrested both Duarte and Perez.

Ricardo Duarte pled no contest to three charges of abandonment of a child and completed a year of probation on the case. The case is now deferred and will be taken off his record.

Adilene Perez pled guilty to two counts of abandonment of a child and given a year probation but online court records show she spent 30 days in jail in December 2015 for a probation violation.
