Suspected drunk driver in double fatal crash to face judge

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The accused drunk driver who crashed this weekend killing a woman and his 1-yea- old son will be in court Monday.

Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputies say 41-year-old Carlos Rosales-Polanco was driving on Coors on Saturday night.

When he lost control, veered into oncoming traffic and struck a utility pole, the truck then rolled into a field.

Adriana Chavez-Miranda, 30, was thrown from the truck and died.

Rosales-Polanco’s two kids, a 10- and 1 ½-year-old, were also in the car. Both were taken to UNM Hospital where the baby boy died.

“What we do know at this point is alcohol does appear to be a factor in this particular crash as well as speed,” said Sgt. Aaron Williamson.

The 10-year-old boy is still in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

KRQE News 13 will have more from Rosales-Polanco’s court appearance in later newscasts. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
