ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man caused a lot of problems over the weekend for police, firefighters and two ambulance drivers.

Gonzalo Tellez-Santilla, 34, was arrested Sunday after he allegedly tried to take off in an ambulance with the employees still inside.

According to the criminal complaint, Santilla and one of the employees started punching each other and that’s when Santilla took off on foot.

Two Albuquerque firefighters on duty near Wyoming and Zuni chased him down and held him until police arrived.

Police had discovered earlier that day Santilla had been involved in a car chase with Isleta police.

The complaint says Santilla allegedly tried to run over an officer who tried to deploy spike strips and attempted to ram police cars.

He is facing several charges including aggravated assault on a police officer and on a healthcare worker. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
