Union withdraws threat of nurses’ strike

SANTA FE (KRQE) – The threat of nurses leaving a Santa Fe hospital without staff is off the table for now, as union members are set to vote on the hospital’s latest offer.

The hospital staff at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center are in negotiations with the hospital.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that the union has withdrawn their threat to strike.

The union’s president says workers are still unhappy, but that the hospital has made efforts for the better.

On Sunday, union members are expected to vote on the hospital’s offer which includes a promise to ensure an adequate number of nurses and technicians are on-hand since staffing has been a major issue.

The current contract expires Thursday.
