SANTA TERESA, N.M. (KRQE) – Tyson foods says it’s closing three of its plants and one of them is in New Mexico.
The company announced Friday they plan to close its plants in Iowa, New York and one down south in Santa Teresa.
Tyson says the closures are necessary to cut costs.
The plant in Santa Teresa is expected to shut down in the first half of 2015.
It employs around 200 people.
The company says those employees will be encouraged to take jobs at its other locations.
