Two men were arrested after APD finds guns, child in car.

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Two men are facing child abuse charges after police found guns and a small child in a car with them while the appeared to be drunk.

Mark Richard Cropper, 28 and Colin Decker, 27, were allegedly trying to order food from a fast food restaurant when the manager of the restaurant called police.

APD says the manager reported that Cropper and Decker appeared to be intoxicated. Cropper was reportedly driving the vehicle and had an assault rifle on his lap and Decker was holding his 8-month-old son.

When officers arrived to the scene they saw an AR-15 rifle in the back seat of the vehicle and could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from both men, police say.

According to APD the child was wearing a very soiled diaper and a shirt that was not suitable for the weather. When officers asked Decker about the last time the child had been fed, Decker told them he could not remember.

Officers on scene pooled their money and purchased diapers and milk for the child and transported him to a substation to feed and change him. CYFD later took custody of him.

APD says officers found a total of four guns inside the vehicle.

Cropper and Decker were arrested for child endangerment and are being booked into MDC. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
