Car slams into SE ABQ building

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Patients at an Albuquerque clinic got quite a scare Thursday after a car crashed into the building and landed right in the waiting room.

The crash happened a little after 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hematology Oncology Associates at 1001 Coal Avenue.

Photos show about half of a car in the waiting room.

Police tell News 13 the driver was an 85-year-old woman who was pulling into a parking spot and that she hit the gas instead of the brakes.

Witnesses say there was a patient sitting in the waiting room who was hit by debris. They also she was taken to the hospital, but it doesn’t appear she was seriously hurt.

The clinic is checking the building out to see if there’s any structural damage:

The driver was also checked out by EMT on scene, but it doesn’t appear she was injured, either.

Police say the driver will not be charged or cited.
