BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A Bernalillo County man is now behind bars after BCSO discovered that thousands of pornography images featuring children as young as five had been downloaded and shared.

Thursday morning, BSCO’s Special Victims Unit served a search warrant in the 300 block of Riverside Drive SW after receiving a tip from the Attorney General’s Office about the child pornography.

Officials say detectives made contact with 28-year-old Michael Apodaca during the search who admitted to downloading the images during questioning.

According to BCSO, officials estimate 18,000 images had been downloaded.

Detectives also seized computers during the search and say they will undergo a forensic exam to determine just how many images have been shared and downloaded.

Apodaca was arrested and has been charged with distribution and possession of child pornography.
