Man arrested for leaving baby in hot car


ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Another parent has been arrested for leaving their child in a hot car. At about 7 p.m. Monday, someone saw the 18-month-old locked inside an SUV in a parking lot on Isleta Road. They broke out the window and rescued the child.

Deputies said the child was hot to the touch and may have been in the car for as long as 20 minutes. It was 94 degrees outside at the time.

They said when the father, 36-year-old Joshua Grothaus, returned he told them he was picking up is wife from work and was in a hurry.

He was arrested for child abuse.

The baby was taken to the hospital to be checked out but is expected to be okay.
