ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A man accused of intentionally running over a homeless man last night is now in jail.

Witnesses say 53-year-old Edward Gurule started arguing with a group of people in a park on Broadway and Hannett Sunday evening.

Then got into a van with his girlfriend and ran over 19-year-old Tiger Toya, one of the men he was arguing with. Gurule took off, dragging Toya’s bike.

When police caught up with Gurule at Menaul and University, the bicycle was still stuck under his van.

Police later found Gurule’s girlfriend with a broken arm, under an overpass.

Toya’s condition is stable.

Gurule is facing several charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated DWI. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
