Health care company loses 87 jobs

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) – Jobs continue to be cut at a company handling behavioral health care in southern New Mexico.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports La Frontera lost 87 of the 400 employees it inherited after being brought in by the state.

The company’s CEO says the cuts were necessary, but employees say the staff shortage and computer system changes are affecting services for clients.

The firm replaced six nonprofit mental health providers in summer 2013 while the state attorney general’s office investigated them for alleged fraud. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
