TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – The new owners of Taos Ski Valley are sinking some big money into the resort, and that includes building a new lift.
The Kachina chair lift will increase the mountain’s advanced and expert terrain significantly.
Crews are working on the edge of the mountain and helicopters have had to fly in concrete one yard at a time.
They’ve also had to use a snow cat and a spider back hoe to get into the hard to reach areas.
The lift will take skiers much closer to Kachina’s actual peak. After being dropped off, it’s a five-minute hike, or they can just drop down and ski down the mountain.
The lift will be done by the fall.
