ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An Albuquerque woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing nearly $46,000 from a local church.

Misty White, 39, was the treasurer of the Indian Nations Baptist Church near Zuni and San Mateo.

Police say since 2012, White had been using church funds for cash withdrawals paying day care and groceries.

A lot of the money that was taken was supposed to go toward the church’s purchase of a new building.

The pastor says the church will continue to pray for White.

Police say when they questioned White, she admitted she stole money because she was having financial troubles.

She told police she borrowed the money and gave some of it to others who were also in need.
