High-speed chase ends with overnight crash

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A suspect lead Bernalillo County deputies on a high-speed chase throughout the North Valley for much of the midnight hour Thursday morning.

The chase came to a halt about 12:45 a.m. when the suspect, 28-year-old James Litteral, crashed his truck into an SUV at 12th and Menaul.

Two women were trapped inside the SUV. One woman was able to get out on her own, but the other had to be cut out of the vehicle, according to BCSO deputy Edward Mims. Officials say the victims are in good conditions.

After the crash, deputies say the driver and his female passenger, 33-year-old Lucia Jimenez, tried to make a run for it, but they were quickly arrested.

Mims says the truck was stolen and they suspect Litteral was under the influence of either drugs or alcohol.

Litteral faces DWI charges and others yet to be determined. Deputies say he had an outstanding warrant of $50,000 for battery on a police officer. Jimenez is charged with resisting arrest.
