ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A former Albuquerque police officer, who was fired after kicking a man several times on camera, will not get his state law enforcement certificate back.

The Law Enforcement Academy Board, which revoked his license, made the decision following a hearing Wednesday.

Video showed Doyle kicking Nicholas Blume in a parking garage in 2011. As a result, both he and Robert Woolever were fired.

Doyle says he was trying to kick Blume’s arm out from under him to make sure he didn’t have a weapon and a couple of the blows landed on Blume’s head.

This week both men have filed a federal lawsuit against the department claiming the men were used as scapegoats to try and prevent a U.S. Department of Justice investigation. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
