APD: Man killed by Marshal threatened him with BB gun

Names released, details slim in marshal shooting

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque police say the man shot and killed by a U.S. Marshal had threatened the marshal with a bb gun.

Police say on July 2nd, Deputy Marshal Kenneth Daniel killed 27-year-old Anthony Jacob Chavez.

Marshals were serving an arrest warrant on Chavez.

Chavez was on probation for transporting people illegally into the U.S.

Court records show Chavez had a pending vehicular homicide charge.

He’s accused of speeding and running a red light last year, killing 24-year-old Christian Gurule.

Gurule was an aspiring monk.
