FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) – A run down New Mexico cemetery is getting a facelift thanks to a unique program.

Some visitors to the Aztec Cemetery noticed many gravesites unkempt and according to the Farmington Daily Times came up with the idea to create an adopt a cemetery plot program.

They’re now working with the Aztec Cemetery Association that manages the property.

So far 40 plots have been adopted and they are looking for other volunteers.

More than 2600 people are buried at the cemetery.
