Hundreds in ABQ seek spots on 'Idol'

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Could this year’s “American Idol” winner be from New Mexico?

Hundreds are in Albuquerque’s Old Town right now waiting to audition.

The “American Idol” tour bus is traveling across the country visiting 15 cities trying to find some great vocalists.

Many New Mexicans are hoping to make the cut.

“Well, I was excited,” said Jacob Sanchez of Raton. “I’ve always wanted to audition ever since I saw it on TV.”

Auditions started at 9 a.m. and go until 5 p.m.
