NMSU to get medical school

LAS CRUCES (KRQE) – New Mexico State University will be getting a medical school on its Las Cruces campus.

State and federal officials announced the partnership Monday.

It will be a privately financed school called Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. But it is expected to have links to the university, including student housing and services.

It’s an $85 million project.

Construction on the building is set to begin next year.

About 150 doctors are expected to graduate from the school each year starting in 2020.
