Deputy arrested for driving drunk, speeding

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque police arrested a Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputy for driving drunk and speeding.

Mikal Duran, 25, was taken into custody late Friday night near San Mateo and McLeod. APD said Duran was pulled over driving 62 in a 40-mile-an-hour zone and the officer said he showed signs he had been drinking.

The criminal complaint said he failed field sobriety tests and blew a .16, twice the legal limit. He was arrested.

The sheriff’s department said Duran is now on paid administrative leave.

He’s been with the department since 2012.
