ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – New Mexico continues to compete with other states to get Telsa to build its new gigafactory here.

It means about 6,500 new jobs, but now a governor has sweetened the deal for Tesla.

According to Albuquerque Business First, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill into law last week creating a $420 million tax credit for aerospace contractor Lockheed Martin.

It includes a tax deal for Tesla if the company builds its battery plant there.

Gov. Susana Martinez has said she’s already talked with Tesla’s CEO, but says she can’t go into details about what New Mexico may be offering. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
