Rain hammers metro over the weekend

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It has been a weekend of wet weather across the metro.

Sunday was been no different with slightly flooded roads and plenty of people caught out in the rain.

On Interstate-25, drivers needed the wipers running on high to keep windshields clear.

Up in Rio Rancho near Unser and Southern, some off-road rigs came across a flash flood. On Saturday, Rio Rancho also had a downpour.

The weekend for a crowd at the BioPark set the tone of wet weather as a field of umbrellas kept visitors taking in the music there out of the rain.

Last week, Bernalillo County officials announced plans to begin construction projects which will help alleviate flooding issues many residents saw a few weeks ago.

The county plans to widen drains along Isleta, Armijo, and Los Padillas roads.

Since July 1, New Mexico as a whole has seen a lot rainfall.

In the metro, we’re going on a week strong as the Sunport shows almost an inch for the month.
