ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Animal Humane employees got the first crack at demolishing one of their old facilities.
The demolition of Animal Humane’s 30-year-old building began Friday morning.
It once housed admissions, the cattery and the large dog holding area.
Those facilities have already been moved to new and more efficient spaces at the campus.
Once the old building is down, it will be replaced with a “Central Park” complete with trees, new foot paths and a water feature.
Officials say it will be a place where people can meet pets in a more welcoming and relaxing environment.
Animal Humane is selling bricks to raise the last $30,000 needed for the project.
They can be purchased to honor your pet or loved one and they will be used to surround the new water feature.
