Silver City to ban plastic grocery bags

SILVER CITY, N.M. (KRQE) – Silver City is the latest to enact a ban on plastic grocery bags. The town council unanimously approved the bank earlier this week.

The city’s ban applies only to plastic bags intended for single use.

Supporters said the ban will help reduce litter. Some argued businesses should have had more time to weigh in.

The ban will go into effect in January of next year.
