Mark's Thursday Evening Weather Report

Hit and miss thunderstorms continue to favor central and western areas this evening. Here in the Albuquerque metro area we picked up nice storms along the west side and even a couple of other spot showers over the North valley. You can expect the spot storms to continue throughout the rest of the evening.

Some additional moisture and storms will be possible mainly over the western half of the state all the way through the weekend. Model projection show we could see up to an inch of rain in spots across the west through Sunday.

Then things change in a huge way next week. A powerful and unseasonably cool cold front will roll into New Mexico and fire more storms.

Check out this model projection on temperatures for next week. The Midwest and even eastern New Mexico will have temperatures that are 20° below average for this time of year. This is really an incredible set up for the month of July. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
