Los Alamos to operate Pajarito Ski Area

LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (KRQE) – After several years of drought, the Pajarito Mountain Ski Area will be transferred to Los Alamos County.

Officials of the ski area once in danger of closing, made the announcement Thursday.

Lack of snow in recent years has kept the mountain closed most of last year’s season and that had a significant financial impact on the ski area.

The new management group also operates Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort.

To help make skiing available to everyone, the Sipapu and Pajarito are offering the New Mexico Power Pass. The pass will provide unlimited access to the Sipapu and Pajarito, plus free lift tickets to other ski areas throughout the country.
