Los Alamos post office to be listed on historical register

LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (KRQE) – The Los Alamos post office is set to be listed on a national register of historical places.

Constructed in 1948, it was part of a multi-million dollar community center funded by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission.

It was one of several projects designed to develop Los Alamos into a permanent scientific and civilian community.

Supporters say the designation will help to maintain the post office.
