Homeland security secretary to tour FLETC

ARTESIA, N.M. (KRQE) – Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson will visit a temporary immigration detention center in Artesia.

Johnson will tour FLETC Friday where there are three barracks setup that can hold hundreds of illegal immigrants as they await deportation or seek asylum.

Artesia is just one of several temporary sites being setup to deal with the influx of women and children fleeing into the U.S. from Central America.

Local residents have been protesting the opening of the facility some even saying the immigrants are carrying serious health problems.
