JEMEZ MOUNTAINS, N.M. (KRQE) – A firefighter injured by an explosive in the Jemez Mountains is out of the hospital.

The forest service firefighter from California was putting up a “fire danger” sign near the turn off to Fenton Lake Monday, when he spotted a glass jar with liquid in it.

When he touched it with is foot, it exploded.

He suffered minor injuries and was released from University Hospital.

The ATF has gathered debris from the scene and sent it to the national lab.

Investigators are also combing the area for more evidence.
