ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – New Mexico’s economy is being highlighted in a magazine that one company says reaches about 3.1 million people.
It’s something that the state says is a really great thing.
The state was chosen by United Airlines to be in its Dossier section of its Hemisphere magazine that is in every seatback of its planes.
“This is great advertising for our state’s new competitiveness, business climate and tourism industry,” said Jon Barela, secretary of the Economic Development Department.
Barela says the 24-page piece is really a focus on the state’s efforts to grow an economy as diverse as its people.
This is different from other magazine spreads because it touches not only on the economy, but jobs, innovation, the Spaceport and renewable energy as a reason for people and businesses to come here.
“New Mexico taxes now are very competitive and people are taking notice of that and that is very, very good news for New Mexico’s small businesses and private enterprise,” Barela said.
Secretary Barela says other than having local economic development organizations and a few universities advertising in the article, it does not cost tax payers one cent.
It’s great free advertising for the state’s business and tourism industries.
The magazine is available on flights throughout July.
