State Forestry to sell seedlings

Community support for Portales trees grows

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The State Forestry’s seedling sale begins Monday.

Nearly five dozen different species of trees and shrubs will be available to New Mexico landowners as part of the state forestry’s conservation program.

Land owners must have at least an acre, and they must agree to use the seedlings for purposes such as erosion control, wildlife habitat, reforestation or windbreaks.

People can order the seedlings on line on the New Mexico State Forestry’s and the seedlings will be shipped from September to December. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
