Police search for Roswell dog killer

Dog killed in Roswell

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – Authorities are trying to find a dog killer in Roswell.

According to police someone killed a 9-month-old puppy while it was sleeping in the front yard of a home Sunday morning.

The family said they heard a loud bang outside, but assumed it was fireworks until they heard their black labradoodle crying.

“I came outside and we saw her bleeding on the floor,” the dog’s owner, Ricardo Avila, said.

Police said it appears the dog was shot to death.

They’re still investigating the incident, but do not have any suspects at this time.

In the last year, two Roswell dogs have been stabbed while on their own property.

No one was ever arrested in those cases.
