NM man accused of killing mother

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – Rio Rancho police say a woman was murdered in her home Sunday by her own son; a son she sought help for earlier that day.

John Buric, 25, called 911 Sunday saying his mother Kathleen Lopez-Buric had suffered a heart attack.

When police got there, they found Kathleen stabbed to death near the door with a knife in her hand.

They said it appears the knife was placed there after her death.

Police said Kathleen had called police earlier that day saying her son John, was mentally ill, suffering from differing personalities and had not been taking his medication.

When officers confronted John at the home after the murder he said he didn’t want to talk about what happened.

He’s facing an open count of murder.
