New kids park for all abilities opens in ABQ

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The New Mexico Autism Society is celebrating the grand opening of a new playground located at La Ladera Park on Edith Boulevard in northeast Albuquerque.

The park isn’t only for those with autism, but all kids.

The funding for the new playground – $180,000 – came from Bernalillo County.

“It’s the first of its kind here in Albuquerque and it’s for children of all abilities so children can come here and be themselves they can play and they can enjoy it,” said Sarah Baca, executive director of New Mexico Autism Society.

The idea behind the new playground is to create an environment where children with disabilities can play together with other children. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
