Crews make progress on small wildfires

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Crews are making progress on two wildfires that sparked Saturday on the Mountainair Ranger District.

Officials say precipitation has helped firefighters fight both blazes.

The Dog Head Fire is burning approximately 1.5 acres, while the Fourth of July Fire burned .7 acres and is fully contained.

Twenty-seven personnel are assigned to the Dog Head Fire, and six are assigned to the Fourth of July Fire. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
