ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Fire crews are monitoring two fires that have started in the Manzano Mountains.

Officials say the Dog Head Fire and another one that has not been named may have been started by lightning.

The Dog Head Fire has burned 1.5 acres while the other fire, located in the 4th of July campground has burned 3-quarters of an acre.

Rangers feel the fires are under control at this time and are not seeking additional help to extinguish the blazes. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
