Sandoval County encourages Code Red signups

SANDOVAL COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Sandoval County residents enrolled in the Code Red system are now getting very important phone calls.

That’s because Code Red means your mobile phone is registered with an emergency system.

So when you’re near an area with a problem such as a fire, flood or chemical spill, you’ll get a call, text or e-mail.

Right now the county wants more people to sign up and they say it could save your life.

Officials say signing up is free and you can also choose what type of alerts you want to receive.
