2 killed in Durango plane crash


DURANGO, COLORADO (KRQE) – Two people were killed Friday after their plane crashed in Durango.

According to La Plata County Sheriff’s Office, the small WWII-era P-51 Mustang aircraft crashed just north of the La Plata County airport.

The two people killed were the only two passengers on board the plane and officials have not released their identities.

Denver National Transportation Safety Board is responding to the incident for investigation.

Officials say County Road 309A will be closed due to damage from the crash.
