ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Another deadly pedestrian hit-and-run took place in Albuquerque Tuesday night, the third in three weeks. A man was struck by a van and a Lexus in front of stunned witnesses. It happened on San Mateo between Comanche and Candelaria around 9:15 p.m. The victim died at the scene.

Nearly 200 immigrants caught entering the U.S. illegally are being housed at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Roswell with as many as 500 more on the way. The federal government is assuring Artesia residents that only women and children with no criminal history will be sent there, but residents are still concerned. Several hundred people showed up for a heated town hall meeting Tuesday night where state, federal and local leaders attempted to address their concerns.

Smoke from the growing Diego Fire in the Jemez Mountains will be visible for miles Wednesday causing hazy conditions and posing a threat to air quality.The Diego Fire has now burned nearly 3,500 acres. Six hundred firefighters are attacking it.

New Mexico has two of the best burger joins in the whole country, according to TripAdvisor.com. Sparky’s in Hatch came in third for its green chile cheeseburger. Big D’s in Roswell ranked seventh for its Tomahawk burger.

World Cup Fever spread throughout the U.S. on Tuesday. The game between the U.S. and Belgium was so good, it was tied at 0-0 and had to go into extra time. That’s when Belgium proved to be too much for the U.S., winning the match 2-1.
