ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The autopsy reports are back on two men shot by APD officers in May and they show both were impaired at the time of the shooting.
Armand Martin, 50, was shot outside his Ventana Ranch home on May 3 after he barricaded himself inside and started shooting at officers.
OMI says he had a blood alcohol level of .08, and drugs to treat anxiety or insomnia.
The OMI report says the combination of the two greatly enhances the drug’s effects.
Ralph Chavez, 37, was shot near Second Street and I-40 on May 22 after he beat a woman and slashed a man’s throat who tried to intervene.
OMI says Chavez had .28 blood alcohol level. That is three times the presumed level of intoxication.
Both cases remain under investigation to determine if the shootings were justified.
