Man takes plea deal after postal worker attack

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A man who has been arrested over and over for allegedly attacking people and getting away with it could soon be back out on the streets.

Last summer, Turan Johnson attacked a postal worker in the heights.

It happened when the worker was delivering mail to a massage business.

He witnessed Johnson harassing a masseuse and when he asked Johnson to stop, Johnson beat him up.

Johnson had already been arrested more than two dozen times over the past 10 years for similar attacks.

Every case but one had been dismissed, and in two cases, Johnson was found not competent for trial.

But now he’s taken a plea deal in the postal worker beating case in exchange for a guilty plea on federal charges of assaulting and impeding a federal employee.

He will be sentenced to time already served which is a year.

This means he could soon be released from jail.
