John’s Tuesday Afternoon Forecast

As a cold front sweeps New Mexico, expect fairly active weather. The cold front will allow temperatures to drop, especially east. Eastern New Mexico will fall 10° – 20°, while central sections, including Albuquerque, will see a 5° – 10° drop. The cold front will also continue pushing gusty east canyon winds into the city. Gusts will reach 40 – 45 mph. Moisture is also moving in with the front. Eastern New Mexico will see a better round of widespread showers and storms, while central sections will see more scattered coverage. The moisture from the front will continue to fuel storms for Wednesday.

The pattern shifts to a southerly moisture flow for Thursday. This will help keep western New Mexico juiced. Across the east, the moisture from the front will start to wane, leading to a drying trend for the 4th of July holiday weekend. Temperatures will warm back up as well, but not to the extreme heat we experienced Monday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
