JEMEZ, N.M. (KRQE) – The growing Diego Fire in northern New Mexico has forced residents of many small communities to evacuate Monday night.
Evacuations have been ordered for Weatherall, Jarosa, West Dunlap and Dunlap Springs.
An evacuation shelter has been set up at the Rural Event’s Center in Abiquiu.
The growing wildfire is burning nine miles southwest of Coyote in the Santa Fe National Forest.
The fire which was sparked by lightning and has grown to more than 1,000 acres.
More fire crews are heading to the scene to help out.
